So you think you are ready to submit your work for publication! Congratulations. I want to help you meet that goal with confidence. The biggest mistake writers make is not having their work edited and proofed before submission. Here's the thing. Editors are busy people in a world where everyone wants to see their story in print. If your work is not clean, if it includes illogical metaphors and time jumps, if it has a cumbersome structure, lacks voice or misuses quotes and dialogue, the chances of publication are diminished. Writing that begs more questions than it answers, confuses or fails to incite curiosity in the reader can turn your publication dream to ash. As a longtime reporter and magazine writer and editor, I am eager to help you get it right. I will go through your work with a fine-toothed comb, asking hard questions and seeking ways to strengthen your unique voice. What kind of editor am I? Good question! I believe in the idiom "If it ain't broke don't fix it." If your writing is singing a fine tune when it crosses my desk, I'll give it a salute and tell you to push send. But, if it needs work, and if you are open to honest feedback and direction, I will push you and invite your writing to meet its full potential. I am kind. I am honest. I believe that positive feedback is far more effective than negative remarks. Fee: $75/hour NOTE: A sliding fee scale (no fee to 75% of fee) is available for those in distinct need.
